Jurors choose 20 years in prison for each inmate convicted of killing another inside the Oklahoma County jail | PaysToPost.com

Jurors choose 20 years in prison for each inmate convicted of killing another inside the Oklahoma County jail | PaysToPost.com: Jurors on Friday chose 20 years in prison as punishment for each of the three inmates convicted in the death of a fellow inmate.

The inmates beat and stomped Maurice Pendleton on July 18, 2017, inside the Oklahoma County jail, prosecutors alleged. The jury found the three inmates guilty Thursday night of second-degree murder.

The attack was gang-related, according to testimony.

“It is an absolute tragedy,” Assistant District Attorney Jessica Foster said during closing arguments Friday. “It was a barbaric act. It was brutal, and it was violent.”

Convicted were Todd Alan Miller, 32; Antonio Dewayne Ligons, 36; and Martaveous Dwayne Gillioms, 21. They denied involvement and disputed gang affiliation.

The three also were convicted of a felony count of gang association, automatically adding an extra five years in prison to their 20-year punishment.
